Quality of Life in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases and Irritable Bowel Syndrome: What Is Common?

Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) and irritable syndrome (IBS) are chronic affecting young people, leading to a decrease in working capacity having negative impact on the quality of life (QOL). The excessive bacterial growth small intestine (SIBO) is often combined with organic functional intestinal diseases, worsening clinical picture patients. Recently, there has been an increase number diagnosed cases overgrowth intestine, which primarily due availability hydrogen breathing tests (VDT), facilitate diagnostic process. Objective. QOL analysis patients IBD IBS, depending presence or absence SIBO. Material methods. study included 152 100 IBS. All underwent VDT for verification Iron "Gastro+" device using lactulose. To access general questionnaire both groups (SF-36) were used specialized questionnaires IBS-QOL (IBS). Results. SIBО IBS associated indicators reflecting physical mental health. Corresponding changes all scales detected when specific (IBDQ IBS-QOL) part most SF-36 questionnaire, except "vitality" scale, "social functioning" scale – "general health"
